Though watermelon isn't MY favorite fruit, it is the title of the picture that this request was based on.

I did this as a small side project. Surprisingly, this only took me working various hours from Friday until moments ago. I'd say the total time was probably... 15 hours?

Either way, I hope he likes it!

Since it was my request i feel like i have to critique this xD...so ill begin by saying im somewhat of a harsh critic (or at least compared to DA standards). Should anything i say seem unfair to you, this is all in love and merely a subjective input from one fellow artist to another

( the point of critiques is to improve the artist yes? not to worship the piece)

I'll start by saying i do not believe in DA's "Originality" rating because i believe it is impossible to be original anymore.

But with that said, your vision was strong. I always wanted to do this piece in digital media but my insufficient lack of experience always prevented me from doing so, so i thank and admire your rendition of its digital sister. Also some of the changes from it's original are agreeable and work well so i gave some boostings in originality.

Your techniques are rather conventional, but i am really digging those nice highlights in the hair between the transition between the red and greens and perhaps wished to see it a bit more consistent throughout. The watermelon wallpaper was a nice touch.

Overall, i love the piece, made me smile when i saw it in my inbox

I see you are improving technically, but perhaps in the future i wish you took your talents and stretched it beyond the realm of anime when time permits you to do art outside of work/requests.
