This was drawn digitally with a Monoprice tablet in Adobe Photoshop Elements 9. I used SAI for the final lineart and Photoshop for the sketching and coloring. I did the background in a combination of SAI (clouds, smoke) and Photoshop (grass and ground).

This reminds me of dorothy..What's her name? With the tornado and the house? Oh well. It looks really pretty, it kinda reminds me of the 1800's. (Not that i'm immortal or anything and can remember that) Did you use a base on this? Because the anatomy seems perfect to me. I like the dramaticness. I also disagree with the previous comment that the background is plain. It's simple, not plain..and it fits the character really well. Anyways, that's all for my critique. The only thing I would do is put a little more detail in the grass..other than that, looking good
This is a really good art work. But the background is a little plain and it would have been better if maybe you put a little more detail into it so it looked as if the figure and background went together more. The character is wonderful and it is easy to tell you put a lot of work into this. Maybe you could add some lines to the background or make the lines on the figure match the colors of the item they outline a bit more so they seem more connected. The perspective also seems a bit strange, maybe its just me.
Yep! Well, I don't use the shortcut touch things on the tablet (no idea what they're called) at all, so I couldn't tell you if THOSE work... but the rest is dandy and works like a dream.
Is the green light blinking on your tablet without you touching the pen to the tablet? Usually that's the tablet equivalent of X-Box's red ring of death. =/
Heyhey! Sorry for not commenting this sooner, I was away from home for the easter weekend in a place with unreliable connection! I fell in love with this from the first moments I saw your WIPs on tumblr, and now that I can appreciate all the details I can repeat that: I love this!
You perfectly got Erthel's distant, troubled stare that's so much in character for her, and you perfectly got across her soft body build. I love how she looks still and solid on the windy meadow, fitting for the moment of quiet in which she makes her decision. I particularly like the waves in her skirt, the shine you gave to her hair and eyes and the sense of texture in her boots. Also, if the background was an experiment on your part, I have to say it's a great experiment, as I love what you did with it, it's exactly how I imagined it! The little spark of sunlight in the upper right corner is quite a nice touch. The only thing that looks a little off to me is her left arm (viewer's right) as the lines look a little polygonal and less smooth than the rest of the image, but I guess this was part of your experiments with SAI - and other than that, as I've said, I love it!
It's a red hankerchief. It's supposed to be important to the character, to help her realize a decision she has to make. The author is keeping the meaning under tight wraps so as to keep from spoiling the story for me, but I have a guess as to what it means.

Other than that very good job!
